National Institute of Design (NID) is an autonomous Design Institute set-up by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India. The Institute offers higher professional qualifications in several disciplines of design at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. NID invites applications from high caliber design educators/ professionals having relevant qualification & proven experience in the areas of design for the Faculty Positions at following levels;

1. Associate Senior Faculty/ Associate Senior Designer

PG or equivalent in Design or related subject + minimum 10 years of experience / UG + minimum 12 years of experience
Pay Scale: 15500-37000 (Grade pay- 6600)* or a consolidated pay on contract basis

1. Faculty/ Designer

PG or equivalent in Design or related subject + minimum 3 years of experience / UG + minimum 5 years of experience
Pay Scale: 15500-37000 (Grade pay- 5600)* or consolidated pay on contract basis

Faculty member at NID is expected to demonstrate a high level of academic and professional competence with leadership qualities; inclination towards design research, publication and professional practice; proven ability with technological tools and processes, and active involvement in academic governance. NID offers opportunity to work in a unique, creative work culture.

(* Pay scales and additional allowances/ benefits are as per sixth-pay norms of Central Government. Candidates having higher qualifications will be suitably placed on the given pay-scale. NID also encourages faculty members for professional consultancy for prescribed number of days per year.)

The positions are available under following Design Discipline. Preferred sub-specialisations are indicated therewith. Individuals having expertise in more than one subject areas shall be preferred.

2. Transportation & Automobile Design (Styling & Representation Techniques, 3D-CAD, Surface Modeling, Rapid Prototyping, Design Engineering)
3. Furniture & Interior Design (Materials & Structures, Form & Space, Spatial & Interior Design, Visualization techniques)
4. Ceramic & Glass Design (Glass Design, Finishing & Glazes, Ceramic & Glass material technology)
5. Toy & Game Design (Digital Game Design, Play Design)
6. Graphic Design (Form Studies, Colour, Visualisation & Representation Techniques, Type Design, Publication Design, Photography, Packaging, Branding, Web Design, Printing Technology)
7. Photography Design (Analogue Photography, Digital Photography, Convergent Media in Photography)
8. Animation Film Design (CGI/ Digital Animation, Script Writing, Character Design, Story Boarding, Illustration, Music/ Sound Design)
9. Film & Video Communication (Script Writing, Editing, Sound Design, Cinematography)
10. Exhibition Design (Museum Design, Set Design, Lighting Design)
11. New Media Design (Physical Computing, Visualisation, Media Techniques, Interface Design)
12. Design for Digital Experience (3D modeling/ animation, Special Effects, Media Techniques, Interaction Design)
13. Information & Interface Design (Information Design, Interaction/ Interface Design)
14. Design for Retail Experience (Furniture Design, Spatial & Interior Design, Visualization techniques, Branding & Merchandising)
15. Textile Design (Surface Ornamentation, Print Design, Jacquard Design, Textile CAD-CAM, Traditional Textiles)
16. Apparel Design (Pattern Making & Grading, Garment Constructions, Trends & Future Forecasting, Indian Costumes)
17. Life Style Accessory Design (Leather Goods & Footwear Design, Jewellery Design, 3D-Object Design, Lifestyle & Trend Research)
18. Strategic Design Management (Design Methods, Entrepreneurship Research Design, Future Studies)
19. Design Foundation Studies (History of Design, Design Fundamentals, Design Process, Geometrical Construction, Analytical Drawing, Drawing & Sketching, Illustration, Colour, Form & Composition, Cultural Anthropology, Semiotics)
